These calls involve real risk. Here's how to not blow up your account.

Size your positions

Don't put your whole account on one trade. Figure out the worst-case loss — what happens if everything goes wrong — and cap it at a small percentage of your account. If you have a $10,000 account and don't want to lose more than 3% on a single bad trade, that's $300 max. Adjust the number of contracts so your worst-case scenario only costs you that $300, not the whole ten grand.

Stops aren't a safety net

A stop loss can get run — price blows through your exit, fills at a worse level, and you lose more than you planned. It happens. Assume it will happen. Size accordingly so that even a stopped-out trade that fills terribly doesn't wreck you.
